We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and compassionate Large Animal Veterinary Assistant to join our field and/or clinic team. You will work closely with our large animal veterinarians to safely restrain livestock (horses, cattle, small ruminants), prepare medical equipment, assist with field procedures, and manage client communications.

We’re a fast-paced mixed animal practice serving the local area for horses, cattle, goats and sheep.

• Animal Handling & Restraint: Safely handle, halter, lead, and restrain large animals (horses, cattle, goats/sheep) during farm calls, exams, floating/dentistry, reproduction work, and surgeries.

• Procedure Assistance: Assist veterinarians with field and clinic procedures.

• Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain clean, stocked, and organized veterinary trucks, portable equipment, and treatment areas; clean and sterilize instruments.

• Sample Handling: Label, process, and package blood, fecal, and tissue samples for in-house or reference lab testing.

• Record Keeping: Accurately log treatments, inventory usage, and patient notes into practice management software.

• Experience: [1+ years] of previous large animal handling, farm/barn experience, or veterinary clinic background preferred.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, lift heavy objects (up to 50+ lbs), and stand or bend for long shifts.

• Soft Skills: Calm and confident demeanor around large livestock; strong situational awareness regarding animal and personal safety.
