The City of Washburn is searching for a City Treasurer who is dedicated, detail oriented, and community-focused to join the Administrative team in this vibrant City. Located in northern Wisconsin’s picturesque Bayfield County, Washburn serves as the County Seat and is situated on the shore of Lake Superior’s Chequamegon Bay. The nearby Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, 1.5 million acre Chequamegon-Nicolet Forest and camping, snowmobiling, hiking and boating opportunities make the Washburn area a year-round outdoor recreational paradise. It is the home to several significant companies and governmental offices, including Bayfield County Government, Washburn School District, a community healthcare campus, and Washburn Iron Works. Washburn is a full-service municipality and prides itself in being a great community to live, work, and play. The Treasurer position was established as a separate, full-time position after the completion of a staffing study in early 2026 in which the Council adopted a new organizational chart, establishing two new positions. Salary: $60,000 – $85,000 plus excellent benefits. This full-time, exempt position, under the general supervision of the City Administrator, is the Chief Financial Officer of the City. This position also serves the role of a Deputy City Clerk.
